Juliannas Yard, a previously degraded industrial quarter, is located in the city centre of Liepaja, close to the historic harbour and promenade. The quarter is characterised by industrial architecture and lofts. It was once the site of the Köthen printing works, a sandal factory and a sewing workshop.
In the first Latvian calendar published in 1893, this street became Julianna Street.
Liepāja's new public space, Juliannas Courtyard, now offers a variety of services, cultural events including a restaurant, cocktail bar, beer brewed in Latvia and elsewhere, street food snacks, a cultural space for small events, a bicycle service, a social project association, a creative concert and event organisation company, a dog grooming salon, as well as a few other businesses.
